MADRID LEAGUE BASEBALL CODE OF CONDUCT 

Players, parents, coaches and guests must read and understand all the files that are in this section.

INTRODUCTION

Madrid League Baseball is a community organization that sponsors youth baseball activity emphasizing fun, fair play, and sportsmanship. The mission and Programs are to enhance every participant’s enjoyment of their baseball experience. To better achieve this goal, we are outlining a Code of Conduct for all parents, coaches and players involved in each season or activity that represents the Madrid League Baseball, inside and outside ASM facilities.

 

The Code of Conduct is a written contract between the parents, players and coaches to abide by the rules and regulations of the game as well as maintain a cooperative attitude and uphold the ideals of fair play and sportsmanship. This contract is more than just paper; it is the essence of our goals and objectives and thus, adherence to it is of primary importance.

 

Children who wish to play, parents who want their children to play, and Coaches who wish to coach on teams are required to agree to and to sign this Code of Conduct.

 

  1. Teamwork is not a preference; it is a requirement‐ Encourage one another. 

  2. Always support your team and teammates. Be the first to praise others and the last brag or draw attention to yourself.

Anti‐Harassment Policy

Each player/parent/coach/guest will agree to the following: No player or parent shall engage in violent behavior toward another player or parent because of his/her race, religion, sex, or ethnic origin. No player or parent shall engage in verbal conduct related to another player or parent because of his/her race, religion, sex, or ethnic origin when the conduct: 

 

  • Creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive team environment. 

  • Substantially or reasonably interferes with a player’s team participation. 

  • Adversely affects a player’s team opportunities. 

 

Any player or parent found to have engaged in such prohibited conduct shall be subject to disciplinary action up to and including immediate dismissal and/ or a formal apology to the offended individual.

Players

All players Will ...

  • Display good sportsmanship and team play at all times. Always have a positive attitude win or lose.

  • Follow the direction of the Coaching Staff. Always pay attention to your coach's instructions.

  • Show respect for all opponents, coaches, players, umpires, league officials and spectators. Make every attempt to be on time and ready to play for all games and practices.

  • Be the first to lead by example and the last to violate team standards or rules. 

  • Inform coaching staff in a timely manner when unable to attend practice or games.

  • Never argue with an umpire´s call or decision.

  • Work at home to improve your skills.

  • Always give your best effort in practices and games. When you fail do your best again. 

  • Be responsible to help clean up the field, dugout after all practices and games. 

 

All Players Will Not ...

  • Use abusive or profane language

  • Taunt or humiliate any other player

  • Abuse, steal, mistreat or mishandle any equipment or property (eg. throwing batting helmets)

  • Threaten or fight any person while at any game or practice

  • Defaming of coaches, teammates VIA any electronic or social media (Facebook, 

  • Instagram, Twitter) text messages, etc. 

  • Use Tobacco, alcohol or drugs.

Parents & Spectators

Parents and Spectators will support the players, coaches, umpires, opponents and league or tournament officials. Parents and Spectators won’t "coach" or "officiate".

 

All Parents and Spectators Will ...

  • Conduct themselves in a manner that displays the principals of good sportsmanship and team play.

  • Show respect for all opponents, coaches, players, umpires, league officials and spectators. Inform the Coaching Staff of any disability or ailment that may affect the safety of their child.

  • Respect your sons Coaches, Teammates, and umpires decisions.

  • Comply with the decisions of league officials and observe all rules, policies and procedures as established or endorsed by Madrid League Baseball coaches, umpires, and commissioners.

  • Make arrangements to ensure that the players are punctual in arrival at and departure from all ASM athletic events.

  • Be drug and alcohol free while at any Madrid League Baseball athletic event.

  • Encourage your child to play by rules and sportsmanship.

  • Be supportive and cheer up any play down in the field. 

  • Always support and help baseball activities and needs. 

 

All Parents and Spectators Will Not ...

  • Ridicule, demean, threaten, or engage in a confrontation with players, coaches, other spectators or umpires.

  • Use negative encouragement to players, coaches, umpires or other parents. 

  • Defaming of coaches, teammates VIA any electronic or social media (Facebook, 

  • Instagram, Twitter) text messages, etc. 

  • Discuss or argue with coaches, parents or any other person during a game. 

  • Is forbidden to interfere with baseball activities or cross the gates during and after a game without permission.

Coaches

Coaches will remain unconditionally supportive of the Madrid League Baseball commitment to the ideals of good sportsmanship, team play, honesty, loyalty, courage and respect for authority. Likewise, coaches will remain sensitive to the physical and emotional well- being of the players.

 

All Coaches Will ...

 

  • Be positive role models.

  • Understand baseball rules and performance. Teach the game of baseball to the best of their ability.

  • Display and instill in their players the principals of good sportsmanship and team play. Conduct themselves in a manner that best serves the interests of the players, parents and authorities.

  • Do their best to provide their players a positive experience inside and outside the baseball camp.

  • Ensure that their teams exhibit good sportsmanship at all times, win or lose. “Humble in Victory and Gracious in Defeat.”

  • Treat all players, coaches, opponents, umpires, league officials and spectators with respect. Stop bullying and any other disrespectful behavior during and after athletic activities.

  • Provide instruction in a manner that is constructive and supportive.

  • Comply with the decisions of league and tournament officials and observe all rules, policies, and procedures as established or endorsed by Madrid League Baseball.

  • Be drug and alcohol free while at any athletic event.

 

All Coaches Will Not ...

  • Ridicule or demean any players, coaches, opponents, umpires, league officials or spectators.

  • Argue with opponents, players, or spectators on any playing field or during any team function.

  • Tolerate behavior that endangers the health or well-being of a child. 

  • Use any tobacco products in the dugout or on any playing field or during any team function (practice, game etc.)

CONCLUSION

 

Discipline Policy/Consequences: Each player and parent is advised of the following discipline policy and consequences for any and all inappropriate conduct.

 

1. Any and All Disciplinary action shall be reviewed by Madrid League Baseball Commission. 

 

2. Any and All actions may include but are not limited to the following repercussions:

a. Verbal warning 

b. Suspension

c. Dismissal

 

The Madrid League Baseball reserves the right to impose penalties, including, without limitation, game suspensions, dismissal from the team, suspension, or revocation from Madrid League Baseball activities for serious or repeated violation of this Code of Conduct or other conduct deemed to be harmful.
